Restaurant staff offboarding checklist

Restaurants have high turnover and lots of shared access: the back door key, the alarm code, the delivery tablet login. A quick, repeatable list stops one departure from becoming a security problem.

Systems

  • Remove their point of sale PIN or login.
  • Remove them from the scheduling and tip-out apps.
  • Change shared logins: delivery app tablets, supplier ordering portals, reservation system, social accounts.

Physical

  • Collect keys and fobs, or rekey if a key isn’t returned.
  • Change the alarm code and safe combination if they knew them.
  • Collect uniforms or aprons if you track them.

Pay and records

  • Settle final pay and tips as your state requires.
  • Record what was collected and changed, with dates.

Questions

Do I really need to change the alarm code every time someone leaves?

If they knew it, yes. It takes two minutes, and it’s the most common gap in restaurant offboarding.
